State and local government agencies
rely highly on uninterrupted power in order to better accommodate the
communities they serve. Located across the street from an Edison Electrical
Plant, the County of Orange Data Center receives a direct 22,000-volt power
feed into its three Square D Transformers. Since the Center is
'government-based', it is given top priority when it comes to energy
constraints. The building is the first to receive power and the last, on
very rare occasion, to be hit by rolling blackouts.
Using C & D Lead Calcium Batteries as a back up source for lapses in its
current power supply, the Center is also prepared to run on its full 240
battery supply should power become unavailable. In the event of an all out
power failure, the County of Orange Data Center employs the aid of a
1750-kilovolt Caterpillar Generator. The generator is capable of keeping the
entire Center running for one week.
The County of Orange Data Center offers the mecca of optimum operating
environments while maintaining energy efficiency. Protected from the
elements, each server room contains air filtration, cooling, fire
protection, and humidification systems.
