Due to its flexible architecture,
the County of Orange Data Center is capable of withstanding earthquakes
measuring magnitude 8.0. Its "Erector Set" type of design allows the
building to flow with the earth's movements.
Even the indoor plumbing is spring mounted to ensure that all parts move
accordingly. Should street power not be available, over 240 batteries and a
1750-kilovolt generator are on standby to keep equipment running. The County
of Orange Data Center also has emergency food and water supplies to keep its
personnel on hand as well. During the Landers earthquake, the Center ran for
six full hours, independent of any outside resources.
The County of Orange Data Center, putting performance into e-business.
